College Bound!

SENIORS!

It's almost time to graduate. Less than a MONTH away. Can you believe it?!

I'd like to start this week off with a
Survey for Seniors!

1. Where are you going to college after we graduate from RMHS? If you aren't going to college anywhere, what do you plan on doing?

2. What do you plan to major in during your college career?

3. What career would you like to pursue after college?

4. What are you most excited for about college?

5. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

And if anyone else wants to answer, feel free! Underclassmen are welcome. :)

Photo Essay - #2

Essay #2

Title of Essay #2: Weird Beauty: Fashion Photography Now

Write out the complete web address for the photo essay.

http://www.time.com/time/photogallery/0,29307,1877955_1841440,00.html

What is the subject or topic of the essay?
This photo story is about photography in fashion.  It reveals weird and funky fashions, poses, and models of the like. It also discusses the different influences for these photographers as their shots are published.

How did you respond to the essay? What impact did it have on you?
To be completely honest, it was a bit strange. I'm all for fashion, but some of these outfits are pretty strange. But, overall, I thought it was very interesting.

What makes the photos effective? How do they tell their story?
These photos are effective because they emphasize fashion in a different, yet effective way.  The strange poses, fashions, models and other odd elements of the photo shoot show the other side of fashion that not many other people see.

How much copy accompanies each photo? What makes the copy effective?
There is not much copy for the photos except for the name of designer or photographer that was involved with making the photo. Every other one tells all that was involved with the photo shoot.

Photo Essay - #1

Essay #1

Title of Essay #1: Happy Birthday Willie Nelson: Rare Photos from the 70s and 80s

Write out the complete web address for the photo essay.

What is the subject or topic of the essay?
These are rare pictures from the 70s and 80s of Willie Nelson, an american folk and country singer, who turned 80 years old on April 30.

How did you respond to the essay? What impact did it have on you?
I have heard of Willie Nelson before, just as most people probably have.  He is an odd fellow, mostly because of his political standpoints that are quite different from others in the country music scene. I believe the essay was a well-written synopsis of the kind of person Willie Nelson is.  He is what some call your "typical hippie." - but he is one of the most influential singers, if not people in general, in the world.  I found this photo essay to be interesting because I'm very much a music person and love to read and see any kind of history regarding music.

What makes the photos effective? How do they tell their story?
Most of these photos are candid shots, which make them more interesting than regular posed photos.  They are mostly what you call "behind the scenes" photos; seeing what is "backstage" of the influential singer and songwriter.

How much copy accompanies each photo? What makes the copy effective?
There is only one sentence that accompanies each of the nine photos - but that is what makes it effective. They are just short snippets of text that tell the audience what is happening in each photo. You can only describe a picture so much until you sound repetitive.

Wants for Summer 2013 ... and for college!

Okay, so every girl wants everything on her wishlist.

But there are some things that I really, really want.

Pinned Image\
Now this is just stinkin' cute.
I get so tired of wearing the same suits over and over again to the beach and to lay out. And I really love this one for one reason.

'Merica.

North Carolina Necklace

I'm a Southern girl through and through .. so what girl wouldn't want this adorable necklace repping her home state?

Peace - Love - North Carolina

Monogrammed north face backpack 💗

Now this is a need ... a sturdy North Face backpack ... and its monogrammed. Need I say more?
I want to look cute around campus!
Oh, and to carry around my books, of course ... ;)

Need this now.

Okay, this is mostly for fun.
But if anyone knows me well, they know my favorite show is Duck Dynasty. Hey, Jack.

southern marsh <3

I'm a sucker for a good tee shirt and Southern Marsh is one of my favorite brands. They go with anything if you're just "bummin' it".. like I like to do. Whether it be with leggings or Norts (oh.. need more of those too!), you'll look super cute!

Patagonia Women's Better Sweater Vest

I really need a good vest.. and this cute Patagonia vest is perfect for those not-too-hot, not-too-cold days!
Where I'm going, it can rain a lot. I've always adored Hunter Boots. I'd love black ones, but these are brown, and they're only $79.00 .. as opposed to the regular price of $120.00.
Hey, they're on sale. My favorite word.

Ah, the Longchamp.. my most favorite bag EVER.
I have a Small Le Pliage (pictured above) in black and I just adore it.  Its been through so much and I'm about ready to retire the little rascal. To this day, I'm still amazed at how much crap I can squeeze into the marvelous little bag.

Till next time!..

Ermahgerd. It's Werdnersday.

If you don't laugh at this post at least once, then you have no sense of humor.

Just kidding. But it is really funny.

My best friend Grayson and I are obsessed with the "ERMAHGERD" pictures. We talk like that to each other daily. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, here are a few of my favorites. Here's a tip: say them out loud. It's funny.

And probably my most favorite of all...

Sure, it's a little weird.

But everybody is a little weird.

Well, my interviewee isn't here today.

So I'll just make a post about how much I adore her.

This is the Marvelous Miss Myisha.

We just started to get to know each other this year in Journalism, but she has turned out to be one of the most wonderful people I know.  She is special; in more ways than one.  She has gone through a lot but you wouldn't even know it by the smile upon her face.  She encourages others and always helps when someone is in need.  She has the personality of a spark plug, kind of like yours truly.  She'll be headed off to UNC Charlotte, and I'll be at Campbell ... but I know we'll stay in touch throughout our college years.  If you are ever graced with the wonderful opportunity to meet her, consider yourself lucky. :)

We've helped each other go through the many struggles of being a yearbook editor.

And we've had fun all through it.

She is the ...

Magical
Youthful
Irresistible
Silly
Happy
Awesome

Myisha McCoy.

Meet My Dog: Sambo Drake

This is my dog.
He's my best friend.

We adopted our dog in December of 2011.  My brother had been wanting a dog for the longest time after our two previous dogs had passed away.  We had heard that the animal shelter for the city was going to be at Tractor Supply one Saturday for adoption day. We walked in and we immediately saw these big brown eyes staring at us.  My brother walked up and this dog named "Spike" jumped on him and licked him all over. He was so happy.   We found out that Spike was going to be put down that following Monday. He had two days to live if he didn't find an owner, because of overcrowding at the shelter. We took him home as fast as we could.

To make a long story short, our new dog "Sambo" (renamed after my late grandfather), has put so much happiness into our lives. He brightens up your day with a wag of his tail, or just the touch of his paw.

Here are some snapshots of my precious puppy.

Here is Sambo. He's obviously excited to take pictures with me.
He loves attention.
He's not eating my face; I promise.
He likes to pose.
He wears bow ties. Because bow ties are cool.
He smiles with his teeth at the sight of a tennis ball.
He knows when he's been bad ... How can you resist that face?

And my favorite....

He's a diva.

Welcome to Emily's World!

Hey y'all!

My name is Emily and I'm from Rocky Mount, North Carolina.  I'm currently a senior anxiously awaiting graduation in June (...two months from today, hallelujah!).  In the Fall of 2013, I'll be a freshman at Campbell University, majoring in Biology, and I'll hopefully be on my way to becoming a Physicians Assistant. I love all things Southern; from the food to the style. I love the salty air and sand beneath my feet. I am a total music geek. I love all sports; baseball (Go Braves!) and football especially (Go Pirates!) I talk all the time - about anything and EVERYTHING. I am your typical girl who loves frilly things and to shop till she drops, but I can also be tough as nails when need be.  I hope y'all enjoy my journey to graduation and all things in between!

*Side note - I say "y'all" quite often ... Y'all are warned.

Carolina Girls, best in the world!...
