College Bound!

SENIORS!

It's almost time to graduate. Less than a MONTH away. Can you believe it?!

I'd like to start this week off with a
Survey for Seniors!

1. Where are you going to college after we graduate from RMHS? If you aren't going to college anywhere, what do you plan on doing?

2. What do you plan to major in during your college career?

3. What career would you like to pursue after college?

4. What are you most excited for about college?

5. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

And if anyone else wants to answer, feel free! Underclassmen are welcome. :)

Photo Essay - #2

Essay #2

Title of Essay #2: Weird Beauty: Fashion Photography Now

Write out the complete web address for the photo essay.

http://www.time.com/time/photogallery/0,29307,1877955_1841440,00.html

What is the subject or topic of the essay?
This photo story is about photography in fashion.  It reveals weird and funky fashions, poses, and models of the like. It also discusses the different influences for these photographers as their shots are published.

How did you respond to the essay? What impact did it have on you?
To be completely honest, it was a bit strange. I'm all for fashion, but some of these outfits are pretty strange. But, overall, I thought it was very interesting.

What makes the photos effective? How do they tell their story?
These photos are effective because they emphasize fashion in a different, yet effective way.  The strange poses, fashions, models and other odd elements of the photo shoot show the other side of fashion that not many other people see.

How much copy accompanies each photo? What makes the copy effective?
There is not much copy for the photos except for the name of designer or photographer that was involved with making the photo. Every other one tells all that was involved with the photo shoot.

Photo Essay - #1

Title of Essay #1: Happy Birthday Willie Nelson: Rare Photos from the 70s and 80s

Write out the complete web address for the photo essay.

What is the subject or topic of the essay?
These are rare pictures from the 70s and 80s of Willie Nelson, an american folk and country singer, who turned 80 years old on April 30.

How did you respond to the essay? What impact did it have on you?
I have heard of Willie Nelson before, just as most people probably have.  He is an odd fellow, mostly because of his political standpoints that are quite different from others in the country music scene. I believe the essay was a well-written synopsis of the kind of person Willie Nelson is.  He is what some call your "typical hippie." - but he is one of the most influential singers, if not people in general, in the world.  I found this photo essay to be interesting because I'm very much a music person and love to read and see any kind of history regarding music.

What makes the photos effective? How do they tell their story?
Most of these photos are candid shots, which make them more interesting than regular posed photos.  They are mostly what you call "behind the scenes" photos; seeing what is "backstage" of the influential singer and songwriter.

How much copy accompanies each photo? What makes the copy effective?
There is only one sentence that accompanies each of the nine photos - but that is what makes it effective. They are just short snippets of text that tell the audience what is happening in each photo. You can only describe a picture so much until you sound repetitive.
